hello , i have a problem with this  web site chess.com , i played there for a few hours, then left and wanted to play next day again, but when i try to play online chess games or live chess games, then i get the following error message :

configuration error : unknown application version.

and the chessbord wont show up .

i did delete Java from my computer , rebooted and and installed new , but still i get the same error message.

I used a few different browsers like Firefox , Safari , Internet explorer, although to delete the cache in all my browsers didnt help.

so please can anyone  help me and have any suggestions for me ,how to fix that problem?
i like the chess site and would realy like to play there again.

have you cleared your cache entirely? here are some ways to do that:

http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=6

let me know if that doesn't work!

hello Eric

i have cleared the cache,i did that twice..i get still the same message :

configuration error : unknown application version

if i would know what for an application is meant i could maybe get an other version..

i did contact the staff already but they  just suggest the same as what you do now..and it does not help me :(

so maybe you have any other suggestions ?

thanks

erik

what is the URL of the page with the problem?

Queenloveschess

to join online chessgames with my friends.. ( out of 6..i am in 6 online games and cant make my next moves as well) URL is

http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=18193811

to play life chess i get this error message like 10 times..URL is

http://live.chess.com/online/play/

i can see ppl searching for chess games and i can open and join a game as well, but then i dont see the pieces on the bord and this error messages always pops up

erik

hrmm... must be something wrong with your browser cache or javascript engine, or you are possibly blocking scripts from external domains. are you using an ad blocker or noscript or something? the javascript you need comes from our CDN here:

http://cdn-cssjs.chesscomfiles.com
Queenloveschess

i dont use  ad blockers, scripts and everything from Java is correctly installed , and this  Url what you put here does not open on my browser..i dont know if it should??

and one thing what i do not understand is , that i played games already  as  i am still in a few games and all worked fine, and i didnt change anything over night, just shut the copmuter down and next day as i wanted to play ,all what i get is these error messages..

so if i would blocking scripts or using ad blocker or noscrips..i couldnt have played games at all..

thanks anyway that you try and help..but it seems i am lost Cry

oh..i just remember one thing..as i tried to open the live chess site for last time, as it still did work... i got an message from my virusscanner, that there  a virus is detected

'HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen' [virus]

the Url was a different site as i wanted to open ..i did put it in quarantine

url is         http://an.tacoda.net/an/tpp.html

anyway i got this as i tried to open life chess..so i didnt alow to open the site at all  and the virus scanner did shut down the whole page

do you think it could have to do something with that?

erik

possibly....

clearly there is something wrong on your end (i mean that factually, not in a mean way). i mean, there are 50,000 of us playing :)

so i would do full updates of antivirus, spyware protection, and browsers. maybe check your firewall as well if it is blocking something.

regardless of being able to play on chess.com (which i think is important :)), you should do these things anyway.

try this for more info:

ok i will try all out , thanks anyway for your  suggestions , i hope i will fix all that soon

Hello again Erik ..just want to let you know..i have read here in the forum last few days because of the problems , and lots of other users have the same problem as what i have...and one guy  suggest  to press Strg and F5 ..it works for me too, just that  i have to always press it again after i make my next move, but at least i am glad that i can play my online games and the team match to the end.

but that is still not the best way to play here... there must be a better solution !

and  i still think its nothing wrong on my end, i use a payed virusscanner i have a payed firewall..i use spyware protections ,my computer is up to date..my browsers are working everywhere fine exept here on chess.com.

i sometimes get a message that the webpage chess.com has failurs and wont open properly, so it cant be me..

and now, since so many other people have the same problems as i have ,u shouldn´t just say its on the users  end to fix that problem.by saying that  you are making it to easy for yourself..

anyway..thanks for the try to help ..i am still hoping that the guys from chess.com will fix that problem sooner or later .

Happy Easter :))

erik

you have to hit control+f5 every time? then there is certainly something wrong with your browser :( it is expelling javascript files with each page load? have you tried doing a browser re-install to default settings?
