How do I get my POP mail settings and setup my account?

As a Premium Chess.com Member you can access your @chess.com email from any POP program including Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Gmail, Blackberry, etc. To setup your program to work with your @chess.com email address use the settings below.

>> Your POP username is your Chess.com email address (example: MYNAME@chess.com).

>> Your password is your Chess.com password.

>> The POP3 server setting is: mail.chess.com

>> The SMTP server setting is: mail.chess.com

>> Outbound SMTP authentication is required, and uses the same settings as your incoming mail settings."

so here's my questions-

1.which outlook program do I download for linux?

2.POP3 server settings/SMTP/Outbound SMTP  what are these?

3.so after i set those 3 things I would receive and send email just like any other email websites?

4.is it possible for non chess.com staff/users to email a chess.com email?

There are several popular email clients on Linux e.g. Thunderbird, Mutt, Claws, Evolution. You wouldn't use MS Outlook as it's Windows PC only.

2.POP3 server settings/SMTP/Outbound SMTP  what are these?

When you create an email account within an email client, you have to specify several parameters: which protocol you are going use [e.g. POP3 or IMAP], the name of the computer that sends you the email (incoming POP3 server) the name of the computer you send your email to (the outgoing SMTP server), which ports to use, the authentication method, ... Many of these settings can be left at their default values.

3.so after i set those 3 things I would receive and send email just like any other email websites?

You should be able to use whichever program you are currently using on your Linux machine, to send and receive chess.com email.

Alternatively, you can access the email via your browser while logged into chess.com ... MY HOME -> Email.

4.is it possible for non chess.com staff/users to email a chess.com email?
