The game you won (http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=112762369) was UNRATED. You can tell this by looking at the Details tab next to the board.
rating and other stuff???
You can only make Friend Requests to people who are already members of chess.com. Click on their name - which takes you to their Profile Page. On the right, click on Add to my friends list.
You can challenge someone who hasn't joined the site yet (e.g. someone from ChessCube) to a game by PLAY -> Online Chess -> Start New Game. Then supply their email address. They will be sent an invitation to join the site and play you.
Have you tried (in LiveChess) resizing the browser window (by Control and + followed by Control and -)? This is said by some to make the chat box accessible to you.
p.s. You probably don't want to know the details!

Why would he NOT want to know the details? Mystified!

Assuming the OP is just an average Jo, the illustration in the chess-ratings---how-they-work article ...

looks daunting!
Hi, I'm new to the forum .. I haven't played 'competitive' chess before .. and rather than trawling through all the threads for the answers, I thought I'd just ask the questions afresh.(There isn't much help for newcomers to the site).
1. How does the 'rating' system work? And how come my rating goes down if Iose, but not up if I win?
2. I've got no 'friends' yet, so how do I invite members of Chesscube to become one?
3. How come other players can tell me to 'move' when i'm still thinking, and tell me to resign when I'm still in with a chance - but I can't respond? (chat is enabled) It keep telling me I can only 'chat' with friends. Which takes me back to question 2!
Thanks
Jo
