Can someone explain to me what happened when I played someone with a 1170 rating and I had a 1147 rating and after losing my rating went from 1147 to 910. I have since brought it back up to 970.

Have a nice read!

You haven't played many games so you have a high rating deviation (RD) value. That will cause your rating to swing more after wins and losses. As you play more games that value will drop and your swings will be less pronounced .

I have well over 1,000 games on this site This is the first time this has happened ever. I don't necessarily care but I WAS considering a full membership.

I asumed you might have been talking about one of your lower ratings, with very few games.... I'll see if I can find the game but if you have a link to it that might be faster.

Martin_Stahl

I just looked at a page of your games and you haven't had an 1147 in your Live games in that span. You were playing rapid earlier at 1122 and then switched to blitz where your blitz rating went down to 911.

But those are different rating pools.

Now I am more confused than ever. Don't know where I ever made a switch from Rapid to Blitz.

hi..i have a question related to ratings(probably a bug)..my rating was 931(in daily chess), i played with a 1200 rating and won(by him resigning after 3 moves) but my rating didn't changed its the same 931..i have played a total of 26 matches(including this, this was the 4th match and 4th consequetive win) from which i lost 22(due to withdrawing from a 22 match tournament) so my rating should jump by a good amount as my glicko rd is very high right now..so can anyone tell how to fix this bug or tell whats the issue?

Martin_Stahl

Games have to have at least 4 moves to be rated, unless it is a tourney game.

The article seems to imply a resignation should cause a rating change but I don't think that is true in practice.

yes i also read this article before posting..my game was rated as i myself challenged him..the 4 move concept is for the timeout not for resignation, as it says after 1 move(after the abort option is gone) if resignation happens then rating will change and he resigned after 3 moves so rating should change as per the rules of site ..so is this a bug or error then?phpUTRWXR.png

Martin_Stahl

I really don't know. At one point I believe the 4 move requirement was also for resignations but it has been a little while since I last recalled looking at it.

You might open a ticket and verify as it could be a v3 change.

ok thanx:-)

WhyWastingTimeResign

i have emailed.,still can you give it a check because you r saying its been a while and tell whats the issue and whats the current rule regarding this in v3 and old site(i dont know much about versions, i dont know mine is what, it is the new website that i know)..if you dont mind.

Martin_Stahl

Yeah, that screenshot is definitely v3. As to giving a check I would have to test by playing and resigning in both versions to see what it does. Someone in staff should be better positioned to answer the question and if it is a bug or by design.

WhyWastingTimeResign

ok thanks😊
