When you play your first games your rating will move very fast. Play more games ans you will see that it will stabilize. When you are looking for more ches960 games you can become a member of a chess960 club on this website.

I have a repro of mixed rankings between 960 and traditional chess.

1. I recently played my first 960 game (and won... yeah!).Scores were 960 baseline and behaved as expected. http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=29284661

2. I created new game "a 'real' rematch' with same player, and selected traditional chess under advanced options. http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=29336534
BUG#1: Traditional game has 960 layout. The 960 game icon does not appear before the game title and both our traditional ranks are displayed.

BUG#2: The 960 initial layout is identical to my previous 960 game positions. While possible there should be 1 in 960 chance of back-to-back identical positions.

3. My opponent created a new 960 game as a rematch. http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=29336522
BUG#2: 960 layout is identical to previous 960 game positions. While possible there should be 1 in 960 chance of back-to-back identical positions.

Now I might be lucky enough to get identical 960 layout once... but twice in a row for two different people (one for me, one for my opponet) is really too much to believe. Therefore I believe there are some 960 bugs to be investigated.

ACTION ITEM: Anyone else that has game examples of mixed rankings should post a reply on this thread and include the GameID impacted.

Thanks for making a great site better!

I think the reason it did the exact board again was because you clicked rematch...so you're doing a rematch of the same board position.  It should have stayed as a 960 game though.

AHA! Rematch keeping same layout is a good idea. I'm not sure how to best message this in the UI for creating a new game. Perhaps by adding a note just below Rematch button/dropdown (only for a Chess960 game): "*Rematch in Chess960 will repeat same board layout."

I think the same position for rematch should be optional, I can see that sometimes you would want to replay the same position, but the whole point of 960 for me is that it's differnt everytime.
