Redirect ads are killing the site on iOS

Chess.com is now filthy with ads that temporarily hijack my iPhone forcing it to open the App Store advertising some app. Now I can't even play games on chess.com because as soon as I go to a game an ad hijacks my browser and closes chess.com. Your ads are literally killing your traffic. Here's the url where I land when trying to play games on my iPhone. http://redirect.afftrx.com/redirect2.php?param=111&serviceid=91831&printip=66.87.68.113&error_redirection=0&s=1425505&tid1=1421942400a54c12089d89e6684737478&os=5&country=US

I really hope you fix this. It makes your website seem like malware.

Adware has become a very serious problem on the Mac. Most Mac users are completely unprepared for such things, since they erroneously believe their Macs are safe from such threats. In addition, those who feel safe because they have installed anti-virus software are likely to discover that anti-virus software rarely does a good job of detecting, blocking or removing adware. (Those who feel they may be infected with adware can remove it using my AdwareMedic app, or by following the manual removal instructions in my Adware Removal Guide.)

/I don't have a mac and I don't know anything about AdwareMedic but I'll bet that adware is what is causing your problem.

Yeah, no. Like I said, it's on iOS. It's an iPhone. Why comment if you don't even know what I'm talking about?

If the problem isn't malware or some other bad app you have loaded, it would affect many more people than just you.

Where is everybody else saying, "Yeah, that is happening to me too" ?  If it is the site, there should be hundreds of people making the same complaint.

Why is it just you?

I had that issue on my Android.

I posted about it and the lack of response lead me to believe it was not Chess.com but, rather, something unique to my phone.

I cleared my browsers cache and the problem went away.

It could be not chess.com's fault. The ads you suffered from could originate with insidious applications that you downloaded accidentally. I know some ad-supported programs often come bundled with other programs (see more info). It is suggested that you check the apps you have downloaded.

The only advertisements on the app that I see are at the bottom of the app when you're viewing current games. I've never had an issue like that with the app.

When you say "Now I can't even play games on chess.com because as soon as I go to a game an ad hijacks my browser and closes chess.com" do you mean you're playing in an iPhone inside the browser?

If so, any reason why you're not playing in the native iOS app instead?
