rather easy actually.

Wow, seriously? So open an entire new window to chess.com just to report a post?? Do you even read what you type?

With that, you forgot to mention that you have to copy and paste the URL and grab the post number. Of course, someone who's reporting a post for the 1st time would have no idea of any of this....

Its common sense.  If that is to much for you, then yes i can understand why youre struggling with this.  Sorry for the honesty, but its not that hard, nor does it require a hurculean effort.

Oh really? You want to talk about common sense? Let's go ahead and do that.

What seems more reasonable to you? Clicking a small icon that immediately reports the post, or opening another window, logging onto chess.com, navigating your way to the "submit a ticket" page, remembering to grab the URL and post number, then filling out a form?

Please do not attempt to talk to me about common sense if this is how you think.

The whole purpose of this thread was to help prevent children from being exposed to pornography and inappropriate posts. If that's not important to you, then please stay out of this thread. Truly, it's not really any of your business anyway. It's directed to the Staff members and admin of which you are not. You're the equivalent of hamburger helper and what you're serving tastes like crap.

I can appreciate your desire to keep porn out of this site.  But a "Report" button is the equivilant of the "Like" buton on FB.  It requires no thought, very minimal effort, and is prone to personal opinion, bias, and just plain ole spite.

What is to prevent you from constantly hitting the Report button everytime i post something you dont agree with, but follows chess.com rules?

The current process works fine.  It requires effort, a moment of reflection that hopefully cuts back on knee-jerk reactions.  If youre not willing to put in a little bit of effort, how important is it to you to help keep chess.com safer?

Also...as unhealthy as it is, hamburger helper tastes great!

And what part exactly is that? The part about how opening another browser to report a post is a great idea, or the part about figuring out how to report a post just takes common sense?

I already talked about this earlier in the thread. The solution is simple.

Limit the feature only to paying members. Paying members are more likely to follow rules. Also, because they pay, they care more about the site than those who don't.

Put a stern warning in the report box to inform that if the feature is misused it will result in suspension from the forum (or chess.com) for a period of some length.

I do not need any type of validation from you or anyone who works for chess.com on this matter. Undoubtedly, I am correct. Trying to side-skirt the idea by saying that the current method works just fine, is incorrect. It's far too difficult for a first-time user to figure out how to do something as simple as reporting a post. This forum needs this feature and to debate it any further is pointless.

This thread has ran it's course. I've said everything that needs to be said. If you have some more points that you'd like to make, please read through this thread before posting because I'm confident I have already addressed it.

I request that this thread be closed.

A non-paying member shouldnt have the benefit of a Report button?  Yea...that makes sense.  Because apparently only paying members care about keeping chess.com a safer place?

Non paying members can submit a ticket. After all, you think it's a fine method anyway....

If Chess.com is worried about people abusing the report button, making it accessible only to paying members is certainly a great way to tone it down.

I agree the reporting procedure is too inconvenient. It always has been. I think there should be a way to message a mod with a single click from any page but in a way that would identify the reporter and require input, maybe even an automatic screenshot,  so if there is abuse of the system, the abuser would be exposed.

But until there is a change,  if there is one - and you could suggest such a change at https://www.chess.com/club/chesscom-v3  -we will just have to use the best workarounds we can find.

Agreed. IMO, the same setup that is used for bug reporting in V3 could be adopted to simplify abuse reports, perhaps with a bit of enhancements along the lines that the OP already suggested. To prevent abuse of the reporting system, maybe have a limit on how many reports a single person can file (reliable reporters could get the limits increased or removed), and removal of ability to file reports if the past usage was deemed frivolous.

I'd really like to see something more convenient and direct.  It would benefit the members, the worker bees and the site in general.  I think we can diffuse abuse with some fine tuning.

Agreed. Although I'm a relatively infrequent user of the forums, I think it's a good idea by Dark Army - would be particularly handy if reading on a mobile device as opposed to a PC.

What you're saying here makes perfect sense.  It's odd that it's being viewed as anything but common sense, or an adherence to well established practices basically anywhere else on internet forums.

Wow, he had a former mod fighting him, and about 4 other people, but in the end, the report button got added.

Also, bump.
