How about getting off the computer, go out and work.  Earn money.  Pay for the stuff you want.  Hmmm.  Crazy idea?

I was never NOT earning money when I was a student.

Not everyone can afford a membership, but it is amazing how much stuff you can get for free.  And it is no surprise that people with money get more stuff than people without.  That's the way the world works.  

Circumstances can't be the same for everyone.

Right.  Be happy with what you have.  Anything you get for free is a blessing and not something you deserve.  If you can't or won't generate the cash, then learn to live without. 

I don't want to sound too mean about it, but that's the way it is.  I am long past the time of life when I couldn't afford a chess.com membership, but every day is still filled with decisions of what I can afford and what I need to live without.  

Asking for free stuff is a bad habit to get into.  People on the street with their hands out are not on the right path, and it is sad.  People who use their desire for "stuff" as motivation to find ways to get it, (like by working), will go far in life.  People without that motivation sometimes find happiness in a simple life without a lot of stuff.  But trying to have it both ways is the wrong path.  

Is the grass growing where you live?  Go mow someone's lawn.  Is fall coming?  Go rake leaves.  Bake cookies and sell them.  Get a group of chess players together and have a car wash to fund your club with membership money and other cool stuff.  Sell your cookies and lemonade at the car wash.  Etc.  

Winter?  Shovel snow. 

Paint.  Fix bicycles.  Give chess lessons for money.  Etc etc etc.  

You can't say you spend 18 hours a day on chess.com but have no time to make money bro.
