Sharing a Game

How can I take a finished game, send it to someone and have them open it in a program? I have managed to download a PGN but I'm wondering what programs would open that in a chess sort of view and play them like we can with our memberships on this site. Or does someone have to be on chess.com to view a PGN?

Thanks

*.pgn is a standard format that should be readable by almost any engine.

cool. I need specifics though. like what's an engine? how do I plug the text file into an engine.

an engine is just a fancy name for a chess computer program.  chessmaster, rybka, fritz..etc.  i think there is a free one (winboard perhaps).  check the resources tab at the top of chess.com and go to downloads.  they may have some there.

not sure about the rest, but i imagine it is similar.  if you open chessmaster then just use file --> open and find the pgn.  just like any other document.

Fritz is a engine, just go to database, open, navigate to where you have saved to png file too.
