You should make a bug report using the bug report tool on the Support site.
Show Hint is unstable

Thanks. I made a report. I'll use "Get a hint" on Lichess until the problem is fixed here. The Lichess hint function works properly.
Also having this problem, reported the bug around a week ago but no change. Engine lines also not consistently displayed.

I also have this problem. The hint was a good teaching tool. Playing with bots and learning is the only reason I pay my subscription. Please fix this chess.com!
Show hints is way unstable when playing against computer in Analysis mode. Feels like it works about 25% of the time. Very frustrating and can't learn which is the whole reason I'm in Analysis mode.
Is this issue ever going to get resolved. It's been 3 weeks. Can we go back to the previous version of the web app?

I've been told by the Support team that the developers are working on a fix. That was five days ago. But the bug hasn't been fixed, yet.
The hint button problem is really annoying to me. Often after I play a game I like to pull it up in analysis mode and then play against the computer from a position where I wasn't sure what to do. I use the show hint button for some insights but it seems like it just usually doesn't work anymore. What is even more frustrating is I've tried to come up with 100% reproducible scenario to have it fail that I could open a support case with but I was unable to come up with a 100% reproducible scenario.
Also, I had a new wrinkle the other day where it was giving me a hint that wasn't a legal move. I was in check but the hint move would not take me out of check.

Really? I find it hard to believe that the hints aren't checked for legality.

Yes, really. I'm sure the hints are supposed to be legal, I'm saying its a new wrinkle in the bugginess with hints. I told you, the hint was one that wouldn't take me out of check. Out of curiosity I tried to play the hint to see what would happen and it wouldn't let me play the hint so at least that part is still working.
One my hints today was an illegal move suggesting I move my king next to the other king.
This needs to be fixed. There's no excuse for publishing bugs to a live server. Updates should be tested before they're deployed.

Analysis --> Practice vs Computer --> Show Hint stops working during session after 4 or 5 successive hints. That's never happened before in years of use. Same problem on laptop and Android phone. Same problem on multiple browsers. Problem still there after site cookies deleted.
