Staff: What the heck is going on with the view totals?

Have a look at the link for current articles.Some are just days old and have over 100,000 views. I never saw chess.com get traffic like this! ( A click per second in some cases).

Some of the member blog views are grossly inflated soon after posting. I was thinking some of the bloggers were madly clicking their own posts to raise their ranking in top bloggers. Now suddenly, one of my older blogs picked up some 9K views yesterday. I was gone all day coaching my students at a scholastic event. Danny Rensch told me last week that soon top bloggers wouldn't be ranked by views so I would have no motivation to cheat my way up the rankings...especially after we were discussing some of these instances!

This phenomenon appears to be of recent origin....

Maybe some bug connected with search robots or something..

I believe there has been malware profilferating on chess.com, and people have made Erik aware of the problem. The malware has even debilitated my Mac (usually only PCs are affected). My Mac is almost useless and I can't fix it. I wouldn't be surprised if the etiology of the phenomenon you mention is this malware.
