I believe it's a new feature but I had one the other day on a device that I use daily and it absolutely was triggered by that device login.

Though it might be possible my ISP switched where my traffic routed through.

That said, there should be enough information in the email, such as client type and IP, to determine if it was your login that triggered it or not.

I had this as well. The login looked like it came from a VPN as the location was unusual: "Douglas IM". I don't think it's a phishing scam because it clearly came from chess.com and linked to chess.com. Changed my password anyways. Would recommend you change the password of all your accounts that use that email.

As I've got this message first, I've also changed my password, now I get the message roundabout twice per day: Chess.com kicks me out, I need to login again and get told, that they find suspicious, what they have triggered just before. Looks to be "not so well" coded and tiring.

Are you purchasing through the Play store?
