Suspicious vacation in bad position
I believe vacation abuse may be a form of cheating, though I'm not sure. If so, you may want to discuss this in the cheating forum instead.
Thank you for your prompt answer.
It seems to me he has been on vacation much longer than a week, but ok, I can wait.
Yes, check his other games he's on vacation for as well:

What does the position look like in those? It looks like the guy just went on auto-vacation for a while; I wouldn't worry about it. Vacation days can be used for any reason the "vacationing" player wants.

Please tell us more. Why is going on vacation "cheating?" Do you have a rule or something you could cite?
Yes, check his other games he's on vacation for as well:
You can't selectively go on vacation -- it's all games or none, with the exception of games from no-vacation tournaments (which you simply can't stop the clock on).
All I was saying is the OP should check all his opponent's online games before he concludes that the vacation was precipitated just because of the one game he was playing with the guy.
And I'm still interested in hearing more about why Adam thinks that going on vacation is "cheating." Conversely, I'd like Changu to elaborate on why it doesn't look like "abuse."
Sorry for putting the name of my opponent. I did not want to name and shame, just to facilitate identifying the game.
I agree that I should have realised that he was actually in vacation for all his other games too. My apologies.

I did not say that going on vacation is cheating. As the article explains, going on vacation just to prolong a lost game is abuse and can result in you being banned. Therefore chess.com must be considering it as a form of cheating.
Yes thank you for the link. Just because it can get you banned doesn't make it cheating. Just think of it as some "inappropriate" behavior that can get one banned. Like you can get banned for sending too many messages. That's not cheating.
You can still view games while you're on vacation though. One can abuse vacation to give them more thinking time than they're supposed to have. Isn't that cheating?
Yeah but then you are getting back to the proposition that any vacation is cheating. You say that vacation gives people time they "should not have."
Are you saying that vacationers should pledge not to look, or even think about their games at all during "vacation" time?
One of my opponent [Name Removed by Moderator - Please do not "name and shame"] of online chess games has been on vacation for a very long time in a losing position (a checkmate in 2!). I suspect his vacation is not genuine.
How can I adjudicate it, or check the number of days he has left?
