Better now, yes? :)
Tactics Trainer Problem Difficulty
Sadly, no.
It should be problems around my rating or higher? But a lot of times it's a difference of more than a 100 points.
I've broken the 2200 barrier and it seems that the samples from the puzzle pool in this rating region are quite stable now.
Great news! And, yes, we are looking into the new issue with unrated puzzles + a configured rating range right now.
Yeah, the Rating of the Problems I'm getting seems to be stable ,about 100 points above and below my Current TT Rating now .( but not sure if my rating were to drop further ,like before, tho )
Thanks Very Much for the fix !
How about not letting unrated puzzles affect a player's rating?
Let a puzzle get a virtual rating and only after 100, or so, attempts will it get a real rating.
Folks, also see this thread about broken unrated TT:

Its kinda related I guess. I hope they look into it, as I find it very annoying. I wonder what they did...
yes, we are looking into the new issue with unrated puzzles + a configured rating range right now.
Please keep us updated on the progress there. Right now it is really most annoying, especially since it was working perfectly until maybe 5 days or so ago. Thank you.
We should have provisional ratings for problems. Or like FIDE ratings, only after a certain number of attempts does the problem get rated.
I am pleased to see that improvements are in hand for TT, it is an important element of the site for a large number of customers.
Looking forward to the results.
I notice today while working in practice mode of tactics trainer that it is not allowing me to choose the problem range. All the problems presented to me are around my tactics trainer rating, regardless of whether I choose a range that is above or below my rating. After completing a problem it still tells me "practice mode, no rating change."
The ratings range of practice mode used to work, but I haven't used tactics trainer for some time so I don't know when this problem began. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Big Hickory, you are experiencing the same "unrated TT" bug that a bunch of others including myself are experiencing since last week. Not that this is any big consolation, of course...
I hope chess.com realizes that we are paying members and they resolve it soon. I am somewhat annoyed because before introducing any supposed "improvements" to the TT (which is generally welcome of course) they should first of all test whether the new software messes with the existing features. This is bad project management.
Update: It seems they made changes, and now the "unrated" is working normally again (Tuesday, 12/03/2013 16:31 EST)
.. exactly what I wanted to say also .. Tnx .
.. looks like I've done almost all the Problems around my Rating coz they keep repeating n' not so interesting anymore.
I wish I can do much Higher Rated Problems which wld be more useful and interesting .( like before )
Maybe the Random Problem Ratings Method might be Better ? ( except without the ' being doomed to do only very much lower rated Problems ' part )
If you are getting the problems again, and solving them, arent you moving up in rating to the next class with new problems? I dont get it.
I can solve quite a lot of them the first time, actually .( not all of course )
The thing is,if yr Problem Rating is almost the same as your current TT Rating,u won't get as many points as you can get if you were to have solved a Problem of much Higher Rating than yours.
So,a similiar thing like before happens ie if you make some mistakes along the way, your Rating will fall again .. I can get it up to >200 points in 1 Session ,but if I make mistakes again,it will go down again .. so it keeps going up and down within a 200 or so points Range.
Can only keep going up,if I make no or very few mistakes.
Sometimes,I can make mistake even if I get the same problem again and even tho I got it right the first time .. depends on concentration, imo.
Ok, message received. Thanks for the feedback.
We are now working on a plan to re-inject a bit more "swing"/variability into the tactics-selection logic. :)
Thanks!
TT is in a mess again, I have just finished a training session and received an endless string of problems in the 1700 - 1800. range, for 100% correct I was getting +7 .
It has become impossible to progress to the higher rated problems, many problems are beginning to coalesce around 1700 to 1800 rating.
As it is possible in the live game section to set rating limits for the open seek ( how much the opponent can be lower or higher rated than you ) it should be possible to set limits for the problem difficulty in Tactics Trainer.
If I'm rated 1850 I would like to be able to set limits of say -100, +100 meaning that I can only get problems between 1750 and 1950.
