time isn't moving

sorry, it actually doesn't work..i have to refresh browser page to see time... otherwise time sits still at start of game and a letter "L" appears and says "initial time", and won't start clock...please fix glitch...

using chrome Martin...I watched a GM game yesterday and several users mentioned time clock problem ...never had problem before new website, and didn't have it for about a month after getting it...It just appeared ...its not a browser that is showing the letter "L" next to time and says "initial time" when clicked on..its got to be the programming. I keep looking for something to start the time, but only refreshing webpage is working. I haven't been playing lately but if it did it playing, it would make playing a losing endeavor because I play bullet almost exclusively. Is there a way to contact programming team to check this out? Thx again.

You could always open a ticket but the easiest way would be to open a bug report. In the Help menu it looks like a bug. You can describe the issue, mark up the screen and it will submit a screenshot.
I just watched some games in Chrome and didn't notice any issues. Maybe it just was a transient issue.

Yesterday in a bullet game I made my move and my clock continued to tick down. Getting desperate I eventually tried to make another move. At that point boith my opponent's move and mione appeared. Later in the game I still had 8 seconds remaining when I made a move. It did not appear, my clock counted down to zero, and I lost. I use Firefox, so we cannot blame Chrome.
I usually lose anyway at bullet. Apparently using 0.7s less than the opponent is more important than being a Q and several pawns to the good ... but that is the game, so I can't complain. It is a fact that if you are not super strong and able to play real chess at that speed and see forced mates very quickly then it degenerates into a mouse-clicking contest. Moves that that take the longest to answer become strong, and allow smart bullet players to reliably score points with moves that, from a purely chess point of view are appalling.
I can take all that. I ought to be able to mate someone that has deliberately given me half his army so as to win on time because the captures take me more time than the sensible chess moves I had pre-prepared.
But I object to having over half my time stolen by a glitch in the system.

The problem that the OP describes is something I have seen too. The first game you watch, works good I think, and then when they have a rematch and you keep watching, the clocks freeze. Martin, I already opened a ticket 2 days ago about this issue, in the "report bug" button.

ModestAndPolite, what you describe is a disconnect. Could be caused by many reasons but most are not related to issues on the server end.

I use Firefox, I had recently cleared out history, cache, cookies etc. , and nothing was running in the background (other than a bunch of stupid processes that OS X starts up - some of which are stupid, but I am not going to mess with them as they don't use many resources). So there is no reason why I should have been disconnected. And if my opponent disconnected then why am I the one that got the time penalty?
So far I have 5 (five) people who have stopped time; [public accusations not allowed -- VP] THIS IS NO LONGER FUN , IF CHESS.COM CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE PEOPLE AND WHAT THEY DO I AM TAKING MY MONIES ELSE WHERE
suddenly, when watching other games the time stays at initial time, ..and doesnt count down. If i get a game in progress it shows time and counts down, but not when they start new game...how to correct? thx
