My game showed me it was my opponents move and the clock ran down. Then when ran out it froze and then switched and said I had wasted the time.

I would agree except that it didn't show me that the wifi was trying to re connect like it would normally. It just showed me on the screen that it was the other players go and his clock was running down.

You could have been connected fine to wifi but disconnected from the Live server process. It happens sometimes. If you are on the website, refreshing in such cases will often force the reconnect. Or read the following:

I'm not as familiar if you are on the app on the best way to fix.
