ummm, wanna know something?
I predicted that no staff would answer (not really surprised) but I also predicted that you would post somethning like that. ;)

How would the master of one-liners refuse to post in this thread?
By the way, I support you dtf15, but I thought the rules said that off-topic forums weren't moderated...it's a surprise for me.
I'm pretty sure that no staff will ever read this forum. But nice try.
We try to moderate the forums as much as we can, and try to make it a nice enviremont for all.

dtf15, religion and politics are notorious lightning rods for heated talk.
If the goal is to manage such heat/abusiveness then it only makes sense to control those topics on the site.
It's not that hard to understand.
Like said person said, ;) The forum was supposed to be unmoderated and unscensored.
I'm also pretty sure they wont read this, but there's just no way to send a message to then. Their systems are all down!
By the way I'll be on the open discussion forums.

You've been here 5 months OP. Some years back, there was religious/political threads all over. To control the chaos, the site said they would allow it--PARTIALLY--in off-topic. Now that they have more of a handle on it, the're trying to move it all to one forum. Which is fine. The same thing happened with SPAM. It use to be ALL OVER. Because of the good work of a few people, its pretty much all condensed to one thread.
Okay, its their site, their rules.
I'm happy that they do have a forum for this, only could they make it easier to access?
since Montesquieu, there is "pouvoir discrétionnaire" and "le fait du prince" which means any power can apply the LAW it gave the moment it choosed? It means CCis totally free to apply totally, partially, or not, for one day or one century a rule it wrote. That is life.
Me, i know that when i'm borderline i can nytime be muted, banned, etc ... in that case, what else than say ok?
I dunno why u seem to hav difficulties everywhere with that obvious sitaution? what is wrong ?
forum are optionnal, me i'm here to learn english and hope being decipherable. A long time ago i was out of the lines, was muted, so what ? Am I dead ?
suppose, just suppose, thirty people insult systematically an official candidate for the most important powerful job in the world, suppose you are clever enough to create and lead the biggest chess site, would u let people insult the most important event in politics this year ?

It's a policy change. That kind of thing happens.
"I'm happy that they do have a forum for this, only could they make it easier to access"? Some groups are by "invite only".

MODs CAN CLOSE THREADS TOO, ..... just writing..
It gives u a delicious thrill to titille the lines.
Dear sirs,
Apparently your support systems are down. I tried to send messages to Chess.com, moderators, and support, but I could not reach any of them, so I opted to try the Help and Support forum.
I just want to clarify that I had read over several times the rules and had understood that when it says “no religious or political debate on the regular forums” it spoke of all the regular forums that deal with chess and not the 'off topic' forum. I guess I misunderstood that. I would not have posted on “Christian Group” and other 'off topic' forums if I had understood 'off topic' as a 'regular' forum. It may be good to clarify that as I know of at least one other person that had understood it as I did.
So now I understand that you consider off topic a 'regular' forum, and I will abide by it as long as that rules is stipulated. However, I would respectfully ask that 'chess.com' reconsider that rule for the following reasons. One is that it is so subjective. Many if not most topics on 'off-topic' have some religious or political overtones or implications. It is subjective to know to what degree you will tolerate some discussions that imply religious views. Two, your reason for locking my last last topic (david locked creation vs evoluion) was that insults tend to fly in this kind of thread. If this is a valid reason to lock threads, why not block all of off topic? The forum in general is very unfriendly. And there are many other topics that where not locked that have very significant reigious or political overtones. You will also notice that in my first post I made it clear that those insults, ect, I would not tolerate. Also, I fail to see a rule that says that topics that may lead to insults, ect may be locked? I do see that if such topics do in the end lead to that that they may be locked. Three, if someone is interested in a topic on the off-topic forums, he can read it. He doesn't have to if he doesn't want to, or he can stop reading them whenever he doesn't like what he reads. Why not let people have that liberty if they so choose.
Thanks for your consideration.
