RLN,my friend i believe the chess game at hand or even my next best move should be the focus of our attention.The ratings are based on a series of games,good games ,smart games rushed games and poorly thought out games.But the game at hand is the prize,the competition,the challenge and the test of my progress or decline.To get better we must play better players than ourselves as you have told me.
Tournament Lid. I recently entered a tournament that was limited to players between 1200 and 1400. But I have come to find out there are several players over the limit with well established ratings. This seems silly whats the glory of winning and whats the point of a 1200 playing against a 1489.
There must be a reasonable explanation.
Anyone?
