Have you tried running programs which use the sound drivers extensively e.g. iTunes, Windows Media Player, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Sound Recorder, etc. ?

what I mean is iTunes works fine, as do all other sounds.

I thought iGoogle was a separate tool - but it's just a shortcut into the website.
