I play on iGoogle.  The audio to notify me of my turn has stopped working.  Why, and how can I fix it?

Some suggestions here ...

I have been waiting, but nothing happens.

Have you tried running programs which use the sound drivers extensively e.g. iTunes, Windows Media Player, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Sound Recorder, etc. ?

I run an AutoIT script which supplements the chess.com squelch.

Did you check your audio in control panel and verify that there is no mute box checked, and if so uncheck it, as well be sure that the audio level is almost at the max on all the sound options..

no mute box checked.

Do you get the turn-notification sound when you play via a standard browser interface?

I play with my Firefox.  Is there any way to play without browser?

I thought iGoogle was a separate tool - but it's just a shortcut into the website. Foot in mouth

Did you try to reboot or maybe switch browsers? I am using Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. By switching back and forth, I have been successful in having the problem resolved. Good luck, my friend.

I shall try that, although I can't stand IE, or understand why it should fix anything.

Avatar of Alsenor

Well, IE is doing no better.

Have you tried Microsoft's Fixit utility?

Avatar of Alsenor
