Vacation When Lost
It's not against the rules. Everybody needs some vacation once in a while. You should use the time to think about the position because after the vacation your opponent will be stronger than you could ever imagine.
Actually, you are wrong. It is considered "vacation abuse" to go on vacation simply because you are losing. I looked it up. I am talking about a player much lower rated than me in a hopelessly lost position. No amount of vacation time is going to make them "come back stronger." They are simply prolonging the inevitable in hopes that I will abandon the site.
If you don't believe me, here is the rule I looked up. https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444860-what-is-vacation-abuse-?b_id=12321
They have also, since been reported for this abuse. I am waiting of the devs to adjudicate the game for me.
This is poor sportsmanship. The vacation system is designed for people who legitimately need to go on vacation or be away from the site for some reason. Not just to prolong a hopelessly lost game out of spite. This person was moving every few hours for days, then all of a sudden when they get into a lost position they need to "take a break." Get out of here. That's nonsense. It was clearly out of spite, and an example of poor sportsmanship. When I'm clearly lost, I resign. Simple as that.
And anyone who would defend this behavior probably engages in it themselves. Be careful, you might get banned.
I don't play daily chess so that's not my problem.
By the way, what time control do you usually play?
10 years for every move? I think 5 years are more appropiate.
If it's not your problem and you don't play correspondence, then why are you commenting? Simply for the purpose of irritation? You don't have any skin in this game. Furthermore, you mock correspondence, but it is just a classical format of playing chess as standard tournament games. Before there was internet chess, players at a distance would send moves to one another through the mail. What a strange concept, long slow games that were thoroughly analyzed. I wonder how anyone could improve their chess game doing nonsense like that...
Have you heard about trolling? I think that's what Gibson is doing to you. And to be honest, its pretty funny lol.
He is clearly trolling. Not sure why it's funny. I guess a false sense of accomplishment is absolutely hilarious these days. Hence, why so many people are so pleased with themselves for being internet trolls. Pretty lame if you ask me. Not amused.

I sincerely thank you for your prompt and detailed answer.
Your perseverance is impressive. This is how you win games! Just hang in there and and in a few years you will win this chess game. I wish you all the best!
Best regards,
SmellGibson
Actually, it's already be adjudicated. But, you're so hilarious. And you must have such an exciting life to be constantly engaged in internet trolling. Bye now bored and boring person.
There was another thread about this recently. The verdict was this: There is a small percentage of people that abuse vacation time in CLEARLY losing positions. This is considered rude and unfriendly NOT in violation. Don´t report rude things as this will clog up the system. They hardly ever get through glitches and clear violations of terms of service as any of those can take weeks to be addressed. I clearly made a mistake when I joined vacation tournaments so from now on I only join non vacation tournaments or tournaments that highlight openings that I want to practice.
tl;dr
not illegas just really jerky and annoying.
don´t feed the trolls just ignore them.
Why do you bother asking these questions when you won't even resign in bullet without any pieces and your opponent (me) with over 15 seconds left on the clock?

Are you seriously comparing a game of bullet chess to using four weeks of vacation time to delay a loss? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have read on these forums yet. I'm so sorry I wasted your 15 seconds... smdh.
Furthermore, you are crying about 15 seconds, yet you took the time to read through my forum posts and then actually respond to one crying about a bullet match? You honestly don't see how irrational that is?
Not a matter of "crying" since I won. I responded because I'm confounded as to how someone who seemingly has a grasp on civility and sportsmanship would just resort to cheap attempts to win/draw a bullet match.

How is that cheap? It's a bullet match. You literally have a clock for a reason. This makes absolutely no sense. If I have pieces on the board and you run out of time, you lose. If I have no pieces and you can't find a mate in time, it's a draw. Those are the rules. I could see your point if I were clearly lost in a 5 or 10 minute game with several minutes on the clock and let it run down just for spite. But, playing out a bullet match? Get over yourself dude, nothing wrong with that. If you don't like the idea of possibly drawing or losing on time, play longer games. Because your complaint makes absolutely no sense. And certainly doesn't apply to the idea of someone going on a 4 WEEK vacation because they are in a lost position. You do see the difference between four weeks and 15 seconds right? You have wasted far more time commenting on this post, than I did playing out that game.
It's a completely fair trade off. You would not capture all my pieces were it not for the extremely quick time control. So, it's completely fair to play for a draw if you lose all your pieces under such extreme time pressure. That's the whole point of bullet chess. If I am down too much material, or a position is lost in slower time controls, then yes, it's polite to resign. I completely disagree when it comes to bullet.
Is it against the rules to go on vacation when you are clearly lost? I have a correspondence game where the person has quite obviously gone on vacation because they got into a losing position. This has to be against some rule. If not, it really needs to be. Pretty ridiculous if people are allowed to do this.
It's not allowed. Why don't you report them?
