View Of Game Board on Page NOT Optimal

Hi

Love the site and the players.

New to it, and find it a bit more difficult than it should be to have a view of the board in play that is optimized for screen-res.

Simpler put, I would like to see just the board and nothing else on the screen while playing. The blue highlight of opponents last move is good enough for me.

To me the "simpler board' is barely any different than the standard view.

Am I missing something?

When I modified the board size in settings, I dont recall any size that was FULLSCREEN.

Hope you can clarify otherwise.

Thanks

Great site

Yes, the board doesn't take up the full screen. There's nothing you can do beyond buying a bigger monitor.

It doesn't look good that this is going to change in the new version coming down the pike either.

It seems like most of their effort is for people who want to play on phones or other small boards. Maybe you would have better luck playing on a tablet.

I tossed it into the wind to see what would come back.

Its a pretty basic premise for a board game site, that you should be able to size the view. These days, making a page responsive is web 101 so I'm a little miffed, cause this is the best site I have found as I have gotten back into chess for first time in years.

Yeah, I knew I can zoom the page in chrome, but its an inelegant solution, cause the rest of the page is not in view...

Oh well,

The world has bigger probs.

I'll live.

You can adjust the size of the board in your settings, though full screen isn't an option. You can get pretty large, however.

I have passed your feedback regarding full screen along, also!

Thank you!

Key word: responsive.

As this previous thread points out, having the board only on the screen is not an option because today's monitors are widescreen. "Full screen" for a square chessboard inevitably means vast swathes of empty space.

When I maximize the board size, it's pretty close to the maximum it could be without requiring scrolling.  You wouldn't want that.

There were many previous threads where this was brought up, as long as 6 years ago.

In some of the threads, management of chess.com responded. I don't have a history of screen shots to see if they changed the live chess maximum board size but I don't believe that they could really make it much bigger without creating problems.

As I noted elsewhere I was off in my assessment. I tossed around the word responsive like mr know it all, and it already was.

I did start a thread outlining my experience since joining, mostly very positive.

I did have one or two humble suggestions for minor improvements.
