The moderator "named and shamed" someone who had been previously banned, but had recently started a new account. This person hadn't violated any rules under the new account,
Wrong. Creating new accounts to circumvent a moderator sanction is a TOS violation.
You do what everyone on ths site has a right to do. You report them...I mean me. If you think i was out of line calling out a known troll, then by all means report me, you do have that right. I dont get, nor expect any special treatment simply because im a mod.

Is it okay for moderators to violate TOS? Because I recently caught a moderator violating the TOS, that's why.
What happened was this. The moderator "named and shamed" someone who had been previously banned, but had recently started a new account. This person hadn't violated any rules under the new account, so there was no need to "name and shame". To top it off, the moderator called them by their real name, which is different than the identity that was being used under the new account, which is a violation of their privacy.
I think this moderator's behavior towards a chess.com member is an abuse of TOS, but I feel that reporting it isn't going to do anything. So what do we do when a moderator violates TOS?

Aren't you guys staff too?
What happens if the ticket is handled by the mod who is accused?

No. If you are on v2 it shows a Staff icon but that is just something in preparation for v3. If you are on v3 mods just have a little blue pawn icon.
I guess there might be some mods who are actually staff and as far as I know all staff can moderate but may not be part of their regular jobs.
Guess you edited while I was posting. Unless there is actually a staff mod, mods don't have access to tickets.

Thanks for clarifying
it is completely up to management borris to review behavior of any mod, and you certainly have the right to report him.
but question; why a forum post?
Its almost as if you want the community to shame the Moderator, and thats NOT the way forums are designed to work. Moderators are "police" that prevent abuse and enforce rules.
its questioning authority. Perhaps, I would say that it is Unrespectful. I'm sure chess.com management stands behinds it moderators, and that when they don't management will quietly resolve the issue.
I ask you to consider deleting your post, once you post a ticket and know that you know management will look into issue.
and if you do I will delete mine.
fascism! ha. that old argument. oKay.
but its obviously not a fascist system. or Borris would have been gone the moment he wrote anything (private or not).
anyways, I'm not going to argue it out. ( well maybe not publically- if you must "convince me that my attitudes are 'fascistic' please do so by pm. I'll gladly go over your thoughts sentence by sentence)

You're reading way too much into this, and jumping to conclusions when you lack information. I did not mention any names here, the moderator came forward. So there was no intention to shame anyone by creating this forum.
But I think that your response is typical of the thing I feared if I did file the report, which is why I had to ask the question. When I first corrected the moderator for their TOS violation in another thread, something happened that made me question the status of Chess.com moderators. What happened was this, I experienced an immediate reprisal - one of their "defenders" attacked me, and told the moderator that I should be banned from the site for having said that. It caused me to wonder if moderators were "untouchable", and it's why I asked the question in the forums.
Now you're sharing the same attitude as they were. But instead of asking a moderator to be ban me, your telling me to delete my original post. You don't think you're being abusive? Seriously. Members should be supported in their requests for clarification, or in their ticket reports, whether it concerns problems against another member or problems with moderation. They should not be attacked for doing so.
BTW - This forum is useful because in the future, another member may need to report a moderator for TOS violations, and they might be scared to do it. They should know that there will be no reprisals against them if they report it.
let me be clear.
as I heard more information, as you might note, I stopped asking for you to delete your post (though I never stopped thinking you Should delete the post). totally big difference.
also I never said anything about being banned. being banned is the most serious disciplinary action they can give you at chess.com - and it hardly should be the first thing they do one they learn your not happy with them.
I will talk later and by pm.
