Well crap, stuff like this is no fun without pics!  C'mon, "OFF TOPIC!  OFF TOPIC!  OFF TOPIC!..."

Sorry. We must help & support prolific contributor Reflectiveness come to terms with this mishap for the sake of the overall community.

(The bloke in my pic had a false-leg as well! It's terrible..)

It really isn't that big a deal to have it moved to off topic. It is still active and anyone who is interested can still follow it. It still shows up in the Hot Topics list.

Religious discussion isn't allowed in the forums, so if that is the basis of your claim you'd better scrap it.

It isn't.  My post was not religious.  It is being persecuted by people with a flawed form of skepticism that turns the skepticism away from objectivity and into a religion of subjectivity and bias in and of itself.  So banning the thread with that skepticism is religious persecution, because it is being persecuted by religion, as religion, when it is not religion, and has a scientifically defensible basis.  Governments and militaries have put a lot of money and research into paranormal phenomena, and there is evidence to support that psychic phenomena and telepathy exist.  It was a perfectly valid topic for the General Chess Discussion forum, as per its charter.  Removing it because it moved at least temporarily to the subject of UFOs and to kill the valid part of the thread because of it, was just bad moderating.

I really don't see why you are complaining. Everyone was (mostly) reasonable. No flame wars erupted. It did veer severly off the topic of chess, but you participated in that as much as anyone else.

And the thread has gotten lots of attention, so what more could you wish for?

Never! I will go to my grave clinging to the grief inflicted by the hand of the petty Fascism of a power-abusing moderator.  My thread has been martyred.  When children of the next century grow up, they will be taught that any injustice against anyone, no matter how small, is an injustice to small people everywhere.

Is the op concerned that eveyone else sees reality so differently?

This nonsense about the thread being moved due to religious bias is sad/laughable.

Blast!

[Images removed by mod - no spamming in Help & Support, please]

Why is this still in Help & Support? It really isn't asking for help or support. Off Topic is a natural home for this.

I hope this is hyperbole. Or it is meant to be humorous. Or both.

That's why I was in despair about my fish pic being deleted.  It appears that our worthy OP has reeled all us clever chaps (and chapettes) in hook, line and stinker. Wink

Honestly think the fairest thing (to prevent misunderstandings) would be to move all your threads to 'off-topic'?

Once chess.com get their 4 new servers functioning properly should be ample capacity to do that.

Well, it may be a minor inconsequential example in the grand scheme of things, but it really was religious persecution because it involved some erroneous subjective judgement calls.

The only way you can really claim the thread was off topic is to claim that the subject and initial post that defined it were not chess related in a way that doesn't fit into typical categories.  And the only way you can say it wasn't would be to say that psychic chess masters can't exist.  And the only way you can assert that is with some sort of religious belief, because scientifically you cannot demonstrate it is false, and in fact some science vouches for it.

So in that sense it was removed for a kind of religion.

No, but you know it's true!  That's the thing, I am definitely correct in principle.  I'm not kidding. I mean, I am seriously a bit miffed that some guy took my thread off the forum after I put that much into it and it was doing fine there and had a lot of traction and wasn't hurting anyone.

Will I get over it?  Sure.  Do I think there are much more serious injustices in the world and our lives far more worthy of our attention, consideration and concern?  Yes, obviously.

I went to bed at nearly 4 AM after doing some research for the thread, and I woke up tired and grumpy as a result to find my thread booted, to boot, and it pissed me off, because if the mod hadn't baited and switched me I would not have invested that time in the thread.  So I was cheated - a little bit, and it bugged me, but seriously, I have not lost my scintillating sense of humor or anything  And yes, your icon is a bit of of a turn on, you shameless flirt.  But don't expect me to court you. I'm married.
