Yes, same here. Probably because either your own settings cannot be accessed (because you are not you, but someone else), or due to failure of getting any settings at all, it falls back to the default.
found the solution. go to settings > board and pieces then set them as you wish to and then scroll down and click save.

Am guessing the only reason people would try to compromise sites like this is because if they do, they get access to username / password combinations that they can reuse on other more lucrative sites. Bottom line... use unique username / password combinations to prevent problems for yourself!
