Alcohol + Chess = Bad or Good Idea?

Chess demands a clear mind and sharp focus, which are the first casualties when you start sipping on the spirits.

There is a tournament 4 times a year in a nearby pub where points are added to points for alcohol purchased.

Good idea for social chess. I find I'm more willing to take risks. But definitely bad for more serious games or study.
