Is Blitz bad for a player who wants to improve?Should I stop playing Blitz and concentrate more by playing long games? What do you guys think?

Blitz is fun, but if you want to improve, play more games with longer time controls.

longer time controls will make you improve MORE but playing lot of blitz games cant really be bad for you. As long as you dont develop a habit of moving too fast in long time controls, blitz still serves as practice, so not much bad can come of it.

That's one of the main problems with playing too much blitz.

My Dad tells me the more games you play (blitz or not) you'll get better.

When I decided chess was my life I decided I'd play the computer 200 times. And that's what I did (no joke (200 blitz games against a computer)) I lost about 189 of them but I won about 12 times. And after that I decided I'd play my Dad again, so I did. And he noticed I was playing a bit better and noticed I was seeing things that I wouldn't of before. I gained awareness so yes playing blitz games make you better. :)
