Disable chat

How do you disable chat in the new V3? I don't want idiots trash-talking during the game like they think they're some hot shot even though any half decent player would crush them.

If you want to always have it disabled, you can change that in your Live chess settings. The gear icon under the the one to resize the board (also in the main menu at the bottom) will take you to the options; the last tab with the bell icon for alerts. Or at least, I think that will turn off chat by default -- it may be for just chat alerts.

I'd have to start a live game to check but I think there is an icon on the chat window/area of a circle with a line through it that will disable on a per chat basis.

There's no way to disable it in the game chat window. I don't want it off permanently because some people are nice. Just when you get stupid idiots, it used to be good to just hit 'disable chat'.

I hate it when other players are rude for no reason. 

I hate when players trash talk. This is chess, not playoff hockey. Every match is a learning experience - and half of the trash talkers could learn a thing or two.

why can someone silence me? I do not understand how or why this is even an option. if u don't wanna chat or read my text then dont! it should not stop me from typing, I get its an international game but freedom of speech is something everyone can agree on

There is usually a x in the top right corner of the chat window. If you click on that. It disables chat for that game.

Go to Privacy in settings, there you will find options for chat.
