Does this ever happen to you?

If you feel this way, be sure to go back through the game in analysis, what inaccuracies were played? Was there any chances for you?
No one plays a perfect game, unless it is top level GMs in classical time controls.
If you find out of the opening your opponent is a bit better, and its hard to catch up, it may be time to look at different opening lines based on what your opponent played.
Best of luck.

^^^^ This 1000x. I learn more in the analysis than when I'm actually in game. Stockfish knows the better moves, trust it to know the "best move" or at least no big advantage swing. Try to undestand *why* stockfish's move is better. study learn adapt improve win.
