he's one gm of like 2k in the world. he isn't 2700+. i've only heard of his name before; thats about it. why would i build a connection with him? he's no champion or anything.

your profile pic may seem like you are very mature and knowledgeable, but you still seem like a baby in terms of reality.

and i've wrote in my previous post anyway that topalov and danailov probably plotted the move TOGETHER. i doubt a contract will write- no using dirty tricks 20 years later if topalov reaches world championship.

The number of living GMs is closer to 1300. Among those, Spraggett has distinguished himself, especially for Canadians. Are there even six Canadian GMs?

Yes, they probably plotted it together. There are many reasons that Topalov would not fire Danailov, most especially that he approves of the man's lack of ethics.

I got 2185.  My actual uscf is 2092.  The last problem was interesting.  I played kh8.  Seemed like the only useful move.

I found a better chess rating estimator on chessarea.com. It isn't the same problems over and over again. It also isn't just "what's the best move" questions. It also isn't just tactical questions. The level of questions change too. Also, even a chess master will not be able to get all of them right because of difficulty, so it even works if you are highly rated.

I never completed it, what does it estimate.

The chessmaniac one is of course inaccurate -- I got like 2106 while I think my strength is a few hundred points below that. But it was a better test than the other one. Fun puzzles.

The chessarea one is utter rubbish.

"You obtained 3 points out of 15, in 23 hours, 41 minutes, 26 seconds
 Your level is: beginner"

Well that is three wrongs there. I had 9-10 answers scored "correct", i spent maybe 1h, and I am not a beginner.

The benefit of the chessarea test is that it explains the answers in a decent way when you fail. But it will not estimate your chess skill, it tries to sell you chess lessons.

What about this one ?

Yep, SebLeb, don't base your strength or "rating" on some online estimator that doesn't seem to have worked for anyone who used it.

bobby244

Or, at least, good at tactics problems.

SebLeb0210

Well just use it as your tactic rating...

Bigdaddiel

I know I'm a little late to this conversation but if anyone is still tracking what is the average ELO rating? I scored an estimated 1805 and wonder where that would place me in the chess world.

MuhammadAreez10

@bigdaddiel: The average elo rating is about 1200-1300. On 1805, you are probably one of the top 10% of chess players.

Hey! I found another one - http://www.elometer.net/
