exactly. imagine your in an otb game and you both just sat there the entire game. nobody once spoke word. he won. he says 'good game'. he walks away. 'yep he was right that was a gg'. *gets up*. *walks away*. you both have such amazing social skills. im just sayin

You're simultaneously criticizing the social skills of two imaginary people and trying to argue that making a civilized gesture is arrogant and should be shunned?

Like A-232 said, it's a particularly bad analogy.

Wow! Threadjacking seems appropriate

Hey trysts, have you ever heard Steelworker by Big Black?  I listened to it for the first time in ages yesterday, and its content reminded me of some of your battles here

My battles?! That's hilarious! I have heard Big Black, I believe. I think they did "Songs about F*cking", didn't they? But I don't know if I've heard "Steelworker", theoreticalboy.

They did, an album I never liked all that much.  Steelworker is on The Hammer Party, which I adore.  See, the repeated refrain is: "I'm a, I'm a steelworker, I kill what I eat..."

Laughing

The OP seems to have a gg going here.Smile

theoreticalboy

How many different conversations do you think one thread could hold?

trysts

I'm just hoping threadjacking gets out of the pancake/waffle rut. A good threadjack isn't quite that predictableLaughing

If every participant is having a conversation with everyone else I guess it would be n*(n-1) where n is the number of people taking part.

Agreed, that's why I tried to make my steering a little more esoteric.  I think the pancakes and waffles thing has served the chess.com community only too well, and needs to be taken out of the game for a rest.

Natalia_Pogonina

Saying "gg" when you win is impolite. It is a phrase meant to compliment the opponent, not show off one's victory.

theoreticalboy

That's a pity, I was hoping Mdme. Pogonina was entering the fray to say if she preferred kasha or blinis.

A nice threadjack usually has the OP involved, demanding  people to stay "on topic". That's always an amusing touchLaughing

theoreticalboy

Yeah, clearly Ninja is much smarter than your average jackee (he's no internationalchess, for sure).  I wonder how one might provoke his wrath?

Not much hope any longer. His thread has been approved by a WGM. He knows he was right and everyone else just can't understand the deeper meaning of his postLaughing

theoreticalboy

Yeah, but I mean she was born in 1985.

You could try a wacky celebration like the following:

it feels particularly pleasant when the opponent has a mate in 3 and fires a gg at you.

ivandh

I thought gg meant Good God, these waffles are delicious.

It means gorgeous goomah - they're just trying to compliment your mistress.
