Maybe we could just type g, no need for two letters.

Or the Gangsta thx G.

I've played in a lot of OTB events; this is my first online tourney.  WOW  Trash Talk City.  This whole deal is set up for communication.Chess is in fact a fight.Emotions run high.  'gg' is just a ritual tool that cools the heat. Voices get all uppity about meaninglessness.BAH Meaning is imposed on everything. That's what got county backgammon so upset. It was the meaning he imposed.

It's one thing to play live where you see your opponent and if you both play hard and are equal in level, then probably it will be a good game and probably the opponents will acknowledge such at completion. Online where you don't see your opponent it is hard to tell graciousness from insult. And believe me, there are plenty of users around here who look for an opportunity to insult. I just don't chit-chat with anyone. Playing chess is challenging...I enjoy the challenge...I appreciate it when someone agrees to play me...and that's that. I certainly ain't looking for friends on the crazy internet.

well...just to set the record stright...I ain't exactly mad about some of the replies I get when I play chess here..I recognize that it comes with the territory. But that was a pretty good post. Anyway..it's hard to regulate graciousness..only takes a few bad apples..etc...etc... So I just play and enjoy a good game now and then. Sometimes I play for real..and sometimes I'm just idling away the time making some dumb moves and see if I come up with the next great opening..ha...ha......but when I play for real, I enjoy the games and I appreciate the site.

Funny how some of the words in that picture were censured but the penis draws were not.

GG is not bad. Does anybody know what good sportsmanship is?

Your inability to handle loss doesn't change the meaning of something that has been around longer than you have.

HA!  Starting the day off with a nice laugh.

I did introduce chess to Europe a bit over 1100 years ago. I don't recall reliable internet service in those days.

That's what I said on post 445, ages ago! Cool

"gg" is arogance, but it's too ineffective. You have to win a whole game first. Why not simply swear the opponent twice and quit?

Kasparella

Or throw in a "gl", doubly offensive, must be arrogance to suggest your opponent needs luck...  lol

I know what you mean. Yes it is rude for the winner to be the first to say gg. If the loser says gg, the winner can also say gg. Other wise the winner should SHUT THE FUCK UP

 thank you

why is it rude for the winner to say "good game"Are you one of those clowns that when you lose a queen you make me wait while you disconnect then reconnect2 seconds beforethe 30 minutes is up?
