Where does a person have to go to get a GG around here
gg is arrogance

It's just one's own interpretation. I only say gg when I mean it. The game can be either a win or a lose for me.
I guess you don't mind seeing a gg after a game if you're emotionally leveled. And not raging if you lose while you still played a good game.
I was emotionally balanced until someone said gg. That leveled me. I had to pick myself up from the floor.

Ziryab -- Isn't that the truth? It's almost like being hit by a falling 1975 "laptop" computer..like this low-priced IBM 5100. At 275 pounds, with 16K of RAM and a brilliant 5" screen, it's a high-tech chunk of on-the-go star matter that can and should be yours for only $8975.00. You'll quickly forget about that "GG"

It's okay, we are misjudging him. I have looked at the game in question and his opponent said "gg, you stupid, uneducated, ignorant troll of a scumbag; why do you not concede after your first seven blunders, they would save your fleabitten lack of shame from polluting the site any longer." Now that we understand he was just too emotional to quote the rest, let's give him a break. Well, the actual bit after "gg" wasn't said but it was clearly implicit.

I will say "gg" when I actually think it was a great game. Regardless of whether I win or loose.
I don't think saying hello is all that important, I mean, it's a given. When the other player has their first move, that is actually chess for "hello".
e4 = let's have a nice game
d4 = come at me, bro
h4 = what does the horse do again?
"player has disabled chat" = just act like a bot and we'll get along fine

I grew up with my chess mentor insisting we all be gracious in win or loss. If angry or wish to gloat you do go someplace other than infront of your opponent.
When an opponents leave immediately after a game without ANY comment it seems rude especially if they won.
I hope you're still gracious about it though...

Seriously now..I DO think 'GG' is appropriate when you lose. I am an honest person and I must reluctantly admit to just quickly closing the browser and using a few colorful four-letter words (neither of which is "good" or "game") when I lose by a few tenths of a second or when I am just obliterated. I have thought about it and here's what I am doing:
Type "Thanks for the game"
Copy it, and then - if you lose type "GG" (which takes under a second)
- if you win, just drop your cursor in and hit "paste"
- if you're in a bad mood and you know it, just disable
Chat and it's all good.
Just thought I would share that idea. Based on the time/history on this comment thread, I'll probably have some other ideas through 2050 and I'll share them if time (and health -- I'll be 80 then) allows.

I'm pretty sure gg means good game. As a result of someone having the nerve of telling me this after a game, I would be insulted beyond Zeus's domain at there conceited attitude.

Really like this one. lol

"h4 = what does the horse do again?" brought a smile to my face, like this: --- it means the player's a "beginner," right? See? I got it! I'm not a beginner any more!
P.S. It doesn't take much to make me happy, apparently --- I'm lucky that way.... oh sorry, I've gotten off topic ....
PP.SS. Hey, how about a new acronym: "gc" for "good comment!"? Would that seem like an insult? ....(Discuss).....
whats the point of winning if you cant gloat about it?!
Karmic retribution--usually fairly quickly.
