Do you see a 10 min button? Click that and it should give you more options to play a faster time control game.

Yesterday I put in a 5|5 game and was matched quickly. So, if you aren't setting a custom time control, I wouldn't think you should have long to wait. As long as you don't have a restrictive rating range for the challenges.
it is better to go to costum as you can chose settings yourself

The OP had probably selected the daily game option instead of the live game option. Please make sure you've selected the live game option and then select a blitz time control (3/0, 3/2, 5/0, etc.) You can enter a custom time control but it will take longer to find a match.

What's "the OP"?
What do the numbers mean -- 3/0, 3/2, 5/0?
And where to I click on the controls to get to a blitz game, which, I have been assuming, is always a 3-minute game.
I've been playing Rapid (10-min) chess for several months and am rated a bit over 800. I just though it would be interesting to play a faster/shorter game. Where do I start? (What do I click to get there?)
Blitz is up to 5 mins a game 
Really fast.

OP is Original Poster (back in 2015).
5/0 is three minutes, zero increment, 3/2 is three minutes, two second increment.
That box above play (which probably defaults to 10 minutes for you) is where you can select the various time controls.

I wanna play 1-10 minute games on my chess.com android app but i just don't find how can i play those with other people, if i search for open challenges then those are mostly for 1-7 days, and if i create my own challenge then even after ages..... No one tends to accept it :( so what shall i do?
