How to learn to play bullet?

I've tried a few bullet games and especially in a 1|0 game, I just can't do it - I don't think I ever avoided running out of time!

I've got a decent internet connection, I just don't seem able to think that fast!

I learned to play with no timers at all and just having a clock makes me stressed (even in a 15|10 game!) but are there any special things to learn for bullet chess, a new way to think?

Thanks. I'd welcome though any general tips on the game, and chess.com's implementation - is it a whole other way of thinking or is it just playing chess really really fast? Do I need a better fundamental understanding of chess in order to play many moves without thinking?

So far I'm not enjoying the game enough to want to buy a book about it :)

Easy answer. In order to become better at bullet, you need to become better at slow chess first. Bullet is a lot about pattern recognition, and in order to become familiar with a lot of patterns you need to play a lot of slow games and to study chess in general...
