Live Chess Server NEEDS these UPDATES!!

Sort:

Tournaments: There is no rating restriction for arena. U1800, U1900 Arena can be interesting in some cases.

Swiss tournaments created by one admin can't be cancelled by another! That's weird.

With 8 players joining at the beginning, there should be some option for playing 7 rounds. Automatically reducing the rounds isn't a great feature for small/inactive clubs.

Live Club Matches: Some features are available on live tournaments, but not in live club matches! But they are very important.

1. Players can't offer draw before 20 moves.

2. Minimum RATED games before joining.

Draws are always boring and more boring on top boards (after the very first move!). Also some new accounts can spoil the fun, as their ratings fluctuate a lot. Unfortunately, developers forgot both features in live club matches.

**Please remove the cancellation button once the join button becomes active. Also mention the person (or server) who cancelled the live club match.

**Prevent Sandbaggers: We don't have any tool for preventing sandbaggers. Maximum weekly rating, or Maximum rating in last 30 games, both are needed very badly. I've reported many silly games and sandbaggers are still enjoying their time here. Please introduce those features or we will see more of these games.

Live Club Leaderboard: The existing leaderboard can be called a dead one. It doesn't do any justice to the live club matches that are being played in LCWL, LCEL, LCPAL, as the list isn't getting updated. Also it considered only a few games & so many clubs are missing!! It should consider the latest 20-30 club matches and also give a win% stat (similar to Daily Club Leaderboard).

Among the existing features, "Sync scores" button isn’t working for live club matches. That could be another helpful feature. Sometimes players get banned even before the live club match is over!

Some of these features are already available on other sites. And Chess.com should include them asap to maintain their #1 status

All I want is a better version of live chess server which can make the life easier for club admins.

ME_Mosharrof

That's ridiculous to see people trying hard to get checkmated

And all on a sudden, they play their finest game ever! Sandbaggers MUST BE PUNISHED.

Well done for this summary my friend, I also reported all of those things by bug or suggestion feature many times! thumbup.png

Hello Mosharrof. I got curious about that Leaderboard as well.

Leaderboard. What that Leaderboard seems to be doing, at the moment, is to sort Live chess teams according to the points they made in the last match they played (and possibly won).

Ex. 1st position (106 points): https://www.chess.com/clubs/matches/live/gm-ben-finegold-club

edit: and then probably it is not being updated/refreshed either

Unfortunately reporters don't even know if their report ever reached the destination  So, I opened this forum. And I'm pretty sure, most of the admins will support ALL these points mentioned.

That is a complete mess. Nothing can justify this leaderboard. Look at Team Ukraine (70.5 points). They don't have any recent team match with that many points!!

true it was created and now it is not being updated... probably meant as a Leaderboard for maximum boards reached or something

Maximum boards  In that case, Team Russia can never end up with only 30 points!! Russia vs Ukraine (724 boards), how come this epic match go unnoticed!!

JFSebastianKnight

yes exactly.. it is not being updated, the bot  just picked up those stats from some random day (at the moment the ratio is: max.nr of boards in last won match), when maybe Team Russia had just played a match on 30 boards and those data just remained frozen, probably waiting for further erm... implementation, adjustments

2nd possibility: GM Ben Finegold hacked the feature grin.png

Anyways-- I agree, at the moment it is kind of meaningless

Bosnian_Assassin

We are being robbed of information, stats, excitement

ME_Mosharrof

Yes, such meaningless feature can only frustrate the admins of active clubs. In that case, such faulty leaderboard should not exist at all

Recently some good features are being introduced as well. For example, notifications to all members, matches can be created for any date in future. Thumbs up for that

The next season of LCWL is planned to start in February. I hope, all these major and minor improvements will be done before that. Live Club Matches are getting more popular and Chess.com developers should pay attention to our demands. We still can't play club matches/tournaments from the app! Apart from LCWL, LCEL, LCPAL, there are so many similar leagues for local clubs (Clubs League, Nations League, 2020 Chess, LCO etc).

magisterio

You are right Mosharrof.

What is LCPAL?

Live Chess Pan American League. They host tournaments of many different formats, including the Blitz Cup, Bullet Cup, Rapid Cup, +1800 Tournament, and U1600 Tournament.

ME_Mosharrof

Yes, implementing for BETA is also fine. I just feel, there is some communication gap between the developers and the members. More than 3.5 years of live club matches, and yet we have these features missing  U1600 event badly needs the features to prevent sandbagging. It is high time to implement those changes.

JFSebastianKnight

Regarding LIVE CHESS MATCHES, something else maybe relevant is:

- in a Daily match when a member's account gets closed for cheating, then the whole match result is adjusted accordingly, this does not seem to be happening for Live Matches.

Maybe someone else feels that Beta could include something along that line as well?

ps. I am a fan of "custom notifications", because I think admins should reach out to members in person (this is badly said, but in order to make club members feel that club interaction is human), but I agree with Mo' and and the others, AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATIONS are a terrific help for admins, thanks a lot for that Chess.com developers!

It mustn't have been too easy, to plunge into all that code and come up with a very elegant and efficient solution. My feeling there is that Chess.com must be one of the Top sites globally for complexity and the internal erm... organization of so many different features happy.png

iksnicamod

But automatic notification need to be improved as well!

Currently, they are received only with 1 or 2 minutes before match start, not enough to remind enough players and to be in time to register.

Opposite to this, we receive notification that registration for Live tournament started, with whole 59min before start - this would greatly help in improving participation for live matches to have it like this for matches!

ME_Mosharrof

@JFSebastianKnight: Yes, that's nice feature. Sync Scores button actually exists on live matches too, but it isn't working. Pressing it will redirect you to a daily match of similar match ID!

Custom notification can also be a nice tool for admins. As, all live events are not of equal importance. For example, tournaments we play on weekend, team matches we play on LCWL. Admin can decide when to notify all members

@iksnicamod: Actually notifications are sent twice. 59 mins to go and if you don't clear it, that notification will remain (keep counting the minutes). Whether you clear the first notification or not, there is another notification right before the event 2 mins to go

Probably that's not the same for live club matches. I don't have enough experience on that, as we aren't playing open matches nowadays

iksnicamod

Yes, whatever is done for Live tournaments it is better and should be used for Live matches as well wink.png

Custom notifications - well that should be left for teams if they want/need additional invites through news, forum, private messages. Automatic notification should be sent to all members everytime (except for rating restricted matches, those should really be received only by players available to join match)

ME_Mosharrof

yeah, notifications don't exist once that live event got started. So, that's another good thing.
