Low Rated Players play like intermediate players

I've started playing bullet tournaments and i've notice that many 1000-1300 rated players play like intermediate players.

I dont understand whats going on. They dont blunder like low rated players that they are, they make good moves.

Hi Linda,

I have also found this to be the case far too often!

I have played online bullet for many years, and in all the other sites I have played in you get the odd few who are suspiciously too good for their rating, yet on here there are way too many of them...

I have no problem with good players as such, but the moves some 1300-1800 players make are ridiculous, especially at bullet time controls!

this site doesnt check for people who use engines. resulting in a bunch of low elo cheaters who bash their way up the rankings. this is why im switching to lichess, unless they fix this problem

and yes i know they are cheating, i have played against stockfish many times and know its patterns so either almost all of the low elo players on this website play very similar to stockfish or chess.com cant bother to try to stop people from using engines

When is Chess.com going to invest in software that catch people cheating, you would think that that was their top priority, until then, I won't be giving them my cash...

they do. Millions of accounts investigated for fair play...

also you can't use engine in bullet. and if it's bullet why do you care? Just play another game.

It is because under 2000 bullet players basically all play the same because they cant calculate or find the best move.

You cant cheat in bullet...

It takes a lot of time for a chess engine to decide a move so if you use engine in bullet you will lose by time

You guys should play Chinese "Go".

nope, hundreds of people get banned for cheating in bullet games.

They use programmed bots to automatically play moves like an engine.

In bullet there’s basically no difference in a 20p point gap. It all depends on how well you’re playing atm

Avatar of RawJa777

I've noticed this too - when I first started playing I was moving into the 1300+ range. Lately every game that I've played I've either run out of time (but I have NEVER have won this way) or I get beaten by a 1050 level player who makes zero blunders throughout the course of the game. It's infuriating.

Avatar of sndeww

I don’t believe 1050 players are making no blunders. Do you run your games through an engine after each game?

Avatar of JackRoach

It will take around 5 seconds (maybe less, maybe more) to get stockfish to get an semi-accurate best/good move, I think. Bullet you need to move really fast, so how would they cheat?

Avatar of RawJa777

UPDATE: I just played a game against a player who was an 1108. He mated me in 27 moves and had 4:02 left on his clock. The chess.com analysis said that his accuracy was 95.7%.  Attached is the game. Not my best performance, but playing against an 1108 who is achieving 95.7% accuracy in 13 seconds per move is insane. I don't mind losing, but this is happening A LOT. @B1ZMARK - ZERO blunders, 17 out of 27 moves scored as Excellent.

Hi there, Linda Roberta.

There are many answers to your question, but to sum it up into one little neat compass: it's an online rating.

Most online players, especially those you find in the live panel, aren't tournament goers. They don't receive rigorous coaching and stuff, there are gaps in their development - raw gems. You ever seen a raw crystal? It shines on certain angles and it's sandy on others.

in my other account, I had 700 ratings at bullet and I somehow was in second place in the Bullet Arena :/ (My banned other account: CoolPineAppleGuy)
