That's the beauty of the blocked player list. You'll never play him, or see his messages again.
Manners, dear boy
There are a couple of things that annoy me about live chess. For example, whenever a game appears with someone who is 200 or so points ahead of me they almost always abort, why, are points that important? Another thing, today I played a guy whom I should have beaten, but he won on time, a matter of seconds. Anyway, I was about to tell him that he had played well when the following message appeared - hahahahahahaha. So I read his profile to discover more about this charmer. His profile read like a horror story. Do we really need to play chess with these ----- ?
link please?
Well, sorry, I don't know how to make a link. Anyway, I don't want to give him any attention. Thank you for your comment.
I am not sure what you mean by "like a horror story." If the profile contains references to violence then you should probably report it.

Well, it wasn't so much about violence, rather it was his disgusting attitude to people and fellow chess players in particular. If most people disgust him and are inferior to him, why does he bother with us at all? Thank you for your comment.
I always think about Judo where you always show respect to your opponents in a match or in training. If you are rude or hurt people then you quickly run out of training partners and it becomes hard to improve. If you have bad manners in a match then people will torture you. Want a draw to secure a norm or a prize? good luck.
In the end I just block them and they lose an opponent that can help them improve.
Regarding the point spread. It depends on the persons goal. I abort when I am busy or forgot to change my settings for seek not because I am afraid of losing points to a lower rated player.
I also personally block someone who plays totally random moves (Bc4-Bxf7+) I consider this bad manners as well.....
dont waste my time...
I
If you set up a challenge, you enter the possible rating range for your opponent ... why would someone accept a 200 points lower rated player in the filter and then abort game because of the rating!?
Why do these bad sportsmanship behaviors seem so much more common in live chess than in correspondence?

The generation Y types have attention spans that are too short for correspondence chess
That is why I disable the chat feature at the start of every live game. I hate sore winners. And the worse part is when I rematch them and win, they have the nerve of accusing me of cheating in a message
If the opponent disables chat before anything is even said I'll usually abort the game though.
Why?

Perhaps Atos would rather play people who are friendly and respectful. You know, a simple 'well played' can work wonders. Refusal to chat informs your fellow chess player that you're not even prepared to comment on the game. Perhaps this may seem unimportant to some, but to others it can spoil the atmosphere of the game.

I am very rarely talkative during the game but sometimes there are things to say. Further, disabling chat seems to be disrespectful and possibly even could be used as a psychological weapon.
