why the huge points spread?

because you have not played many games yet so your rating is not yet accurate. In the beginning each game counts for more until your rating solidifies a bit

errr, no.  I've played many games.  Many.  In fact, I was playing another game simultaneously, same time constraints, but it was in the normal range of ten points or so win/loss.

ohhhh, I didn't realize it was blitz.  longer games are not blitz?

From memory, standard games start at 15 minutes, and the increments count towards the time for forty moves.

e.g. 10/10 is 10 minutes + 400 seconds = 16 minutes 40, standard, 10/5 will be 10 + 200 = 13: 20 blitz.
