Exactly. No need for arguing now? Are we good

What do you mean? I agreed with you since the start? Saying GG is perfectly fine. You interpreted me quoting you wrong.

GG gtg TFP are very common things you say after ending a game   (Good Game, Got To Go, Thanks For Playing)

nTzT

Saying GG before the game is over might be bad manners, but saying it after is completely fine IMO. People make issues out of things that really shouldn't be.

WillGG is not what all about this would you rather be cause I searched that and found this you guy talking about GG

I have chat disabled by default, because it's quite common for Live Chess chat to come in the form of harassment, swearing, or threats.

Keeping the chat disabled keeps the chess silent and pleasant, with a focus on the only thing that matters in Live Chess: the chessboard itself.

Original:

the only thing that matters on the chess board is good moves-Bobby Fischer

Ripoff:

The only thing that matters in live chess is the chessboard

Hah!

Judging by that quote, I'm betting Fischer would've disabled the chat, too.

Chess.com should enable chatbots for those who want to disable chat for themselves.  Chat blockers could then enjoy their peace uninterrupted while their chatbot could reply with appropriate cliches to those who currently take offense when not allowed to chat.

Yeah, chatting belongs in unrated games. In a competitive, rated game, there's absolutely NO room for psychological tricks a k a chatting.

This thread deserves to be bumped every month.

Disabling the chat is not ignorant, it is not meant to be offensive, and it is not a way to say "you offended me" Disabling the chat is proper in any situation when you play a game of chess and don't wanna get disturbed by the chat

Your strategy of discratting opponents seems to be working - your rapid rating just passed 300 👍

Dear live chess user that disabled that on me,

I am sorry that me trying to have manners by saying "good game" upset you. But there are some people on this site who try to be nice and make friends. Normally after a chess you good game, it is the right thing to do. Instead you go ahead and disable the chat right after I said it. Very nice manners. The least you could was say good game back or just accept my rematch without having to disable the chat.

I know that some people can be really mean and offensive on chess.com live chess chat, but there are a handful of nice, normal people who try to communicate with other chess players around the world. The least you people could do is give people a chance. Then, if they start to annoy you, block them, disable chat or whatever you want to do. A lot of people on chess.com are the nice type who just want to have a good conversation about the game, or, mostly, just be nice and say gl or gg like in a real game of chess.

It just annoys me when you people disable the chat the second the game loads so I can't even say good luck. At least half the people I play have done this and today I thought I would say something after I had chat disabled on my game right after I said "good game" and offered a rematch.

Saying "good game" is not ignorant, it is not meant to be offensive, and it is not a way to say "Ha! You suck! I beat you!" Saying good game is proper in any situation when you play a game of chess. I really hope you do say good game or at least shake hands in a real game of OTB chess.

I know it is online chess, but come on people. Just give people a chance. Half the time they don't even talk to you in the first place. If they start to abuse you block them and report them. It's that easy!

Sorry about the rant but I want to get my point across that it is rather rude to disable the chat.

With regards,

~Matthew

P.S. good game to everyone that I have played and will play. I wish you good luck in your games.

Overall, players are far too sensitive. I do not understand the disable of chat. Chat cannot damage you. I do not understand people get upset by chat. Chat is words. Words do not damage you. Even losing a game, that will not damage you.

In my day the peasants were hardier, but then it was a challenge, getting dinner.

When I see someone who has automatically disabled chat, I become immediately suspicious. I have seen too many people who are subsequently banned for violating the fair play standards who do this.

And of course, it's a dead giveaway when their account was opened two weeks ago and they are consistently playing with a 99.5% accuracy.

Disabling chat does not damage anyone either. Igor disable chat in ten minutes too. He hate people, why chat with them?

Igor I know that you hate people, that is why I hired you. Why have you not procured breakfast for me? The service has declined greatly since I abandoned nightly floggings.

This is online if chat is disabled that's not offensive unless and until you make it so.

Well, it's impolite to fact that you use it to say things like GG and GL.
