my rating is rising. am i getting better?

I don't feel as though I am getting better, but my rating is definitely going up.  I mostly play blitz. I was hovering around the 1000's and now I'm consistently in the 1200's and recently hovering in the 1300's. I don't know what is up. I'm worried. I know ratings don't matter, but am I getting better? or is everyone else just getting worse? I know I still am only 'average' or below, but I neeeeed to know what's going on here! lol. help! n e input?! and if I'm getting better indeed, how do I keep getting better? I got free chess.com membership for a week and used the tactics trainer for a bit. that was fun. other than that, I look at articles sometimes, but they don't make me smarter I don't think. I'd like to think that I'm a pretty lazy thinker. What I've learned about chess so far is. develop your pieces. try to use the pieces in coordination. attack when you see an oportunity. and... use your king in the end.    help! I wanna get better!

I feel the same way.  i was stuck at 900 for my first few months.  Now I win easily all the time.  My ratings is at 1300+ The transition was dramatic, but my play has definitely not gotten better!!

I feel like it might be computer driven inflation for reasons that are chess.com's.  People will buy more memberships if they feel like they are improving.  But I am almost certainly not better.  No way could I beat a 1300'er from three months ago.
