I think I'm beginning to understand this site. It's not really meant for playing and learning chess...it's more about upping some silly number that says you're better than others. Must be trying to compensate for something else lacking in life. I dig it...my bad

It’s a mixed bag but you don’t get to decide why’s others should do here.

In any case you are demonstrably wrong. By resigning, the ‘quitters’ lower those magic numbers.

In a lost position, at higher levels, people will resign and it is considered rude to play on.

Exactly.

people resign because their position is completely lost and they have no chance of winning. Idk how many years it will take for people to understand that.

Generally speaking, if I lose my Queen or a Rook, I will resign. Congratulations, you win. If you're upset that I resigned, there are 2 things you should possibly be aware of:

1. I DGAF about your distress.

2. If you're mad when you WIN, chess may not be the game for you.

You make no sense. By resigning you automatically lower those "silly numbers" as you call it. Resigning is often seen as good etiquette in chess if you're in a completely lost position. Especially in the higher levels of chess it would be outragoeus to play on a queen down with no compensation. It may be seen as wasting your opponents time. I have no problem with people resigning. Quitters who stall the game without resigning however, is a completely different story, their a breed of their own.

In my experience people who complain about opponents resigning when material down, are the people who wanna enjoy the beatdown of someone who is a queen down and enjoy their supperior position. They wanna get that satisfying checkmate. To you who feel this way just enjoy the victory wheter its resigning or checkmating. It counts as a win all the same.

Resigning rather than disconnecting is honorable. I think that when people make a blunder like giving away your queen with a discover early or getting fried liver bishop sacrifice f7 or sholars mate opening or even fools mate for gods sake....or if they are dissing you right off the bat...I used to lose my temper but I have learned how to harness it like george foreman would in a prize fight ...

You can't quit before 10 moves.
