Magnus is good,
Just "good"?
With zero doubt Magnus Carlsen is the greatest classic and rapid chess player of all time.
Could Kasparov or Casablanca have been as good with what Magnus has had access to? Maybe.
yea

Dude asked a question, gave 3 options, and received a booklet with no answer. ![]()
To answer your question, Magnus, statistics demand that we look at win to lose in any sport, hobby, and Magnus is too far ahead.
Gukesh simply had a good run briefly to get to be called "world champion" but most of the world that knows chess wouldn't say he's anywhere near the best. Gukesh is ranked #20 in classical. #26 in rapid. And a horrible #44 in blitz. Magnus is #1 in everything and maintains it over a long time.

I will say the way Gukesh won with such grace and respect, happiness was very inspirational and made me a instant fan, before that I didn't follow him.

I think Dreamscape was talking about FIDE, or world rankings. Not chess.com rankings.
There is no doubt all three are very good. But Dream is right, Magnus, without question is number one. And not just number one by a lot, number one in all three main time limit categories as well. Usually when it comes to these types of conversations people will say something like "well what about this or what about that" and those do make a difference. Other competitors DO have advantages that make the debate legitimate. In this case, there are no "what abouts".
Magnus is the best but Hikaru is better in bullet and blitz maybe
