they should chamge the name of the site from" chess.com"...to "flip of a coin.com"
Why do disconnections affect our ratings?
i have plyed 10 games..and i believe at least 3 of them were disconnected..thats 30%..so there should be away to figure 30% false rating on the averages.

Yes,really not fair! I was clearly way ahead against a much higher rated player and set to boost my rating when there was a disconnect and I was punished as a result! Please sort it out chess.com.

I have a terribly slow internet connection, but apparently it's still more reliable than all of you complaining, because I've never lost a game that I can remember due to random unpreventable disconnection. If I open another window, there's a good chance that I'll disconnect, but that would be my fault and therefore preventable.

This is why i only play unrated games. But for some to get so uptight over the loss of some "points" that affect a rating that doesnt mean anything is rediculous. Its a number, it in no way represents who or what you are as a person.

I understand what you are saying here, but also the numbers it just tell the individual how well they are playing.

Understood kco...but basing your progress on a rating on a website that has cheaters isnt going to be accurate no matter what.

I think that if a player is disconnected, the game should be submitted for judging by moderators or volunteers. If the game is fairly close, then just cancel the game, but if one side is clearly better, I think the game should be classed as a win.
Using criteria like that would mean that it would only take 5 seconds for man, or perhaps 1/100th of a second for machine to work out.
Why go through all the hassle and trouble of setting up a system like that, when the underlying issue will be fixed soon?
Its still not fixed 14 years later
LOL. true. try it! and remember. report any bugs on live chess 2. U break it....they fix it.lol
