So what are we supposed answer... "Why do you play chess" or were you just wondering about your colleagues
Why do you play Chess?
I play chess because my girlfriend has very little time for me. It is funny to look at my tactics trainer graph. There is almost no activity in the months she was available and other times when I am lucky to see her once a week I have tons of attempts.
You should check the forums, because this topic has been brought up before, not saying there is anything wrong with bringing it up again, but it can give you more insight at least. Good Luck.
I am addicted to chess, I confess. Reason is, I think, because every chess game is different from any other: new configurations arise, and you have to keep your mind focused and ready to react. An excellent way to keep your brain well fit. Also I find chess a relaxing game (even when I get frustrated by my stupid and frequent silly mistakes! )
Since you're in Las Vegas, go play poker- it'll teach u more about people than chess EVER will hope to - which makes it MUCH more interesting. that is unless you dance at night and don't need the $. And remember, DO NOT equate chess prowess with intellect - they are mutually exclusive.
PhoenixTTD ?
Get another girlfriend - and when you do ? she'll start wanting to be with you. A little advice ? she's got a boyfriend on the side and playing you like a fiddle.

I'm trying to help you here. Quit banking on one that's hot then cold. She's just that into you. Find another.
no you won't - if she calls and starts sweet talking you won't. i'm not dear abby but i know u like her. that's a good thing. that's a beautiful thing. but women use love as a game until they find someone they really like. i'm saying don't sit back - and prove you're desirable to other ladys. and don't respect her too much - she's undeserving.

I melt when I wear bikinis.
I play chess because this is one of the games I have complete control of. If I win this is because I played better (at least made less blunders) than my opponent, when I lose this is only my fault.
No dice, no card shuffling, no luck - pure brain competition without any randomness.
I can find my errors in analysis. When playing another game with the same opening I can make a better move and improve the result. Try to play more than once with the same sequence of cards...

I created mine because of my premise.

Cute...Mind she is not a computer geek. Lol.
I'm a student (again). However, I take mixed courses in college (level 100 and 200). One of my courses is philosophy which include Chess. I was interested in this particular class because of the Chess game.
I'm wondering if some of my colleagues stumble in this site. FYI, my professor never required to play online or pay membership.
It's my choice to be here. It's really hard to play by myself on the Chess board.
