I played chess online for almost four years now as a free member.. but until this time I cannot make my score into higher than 1400, neither because I am not a good player or maybe its because I was beaten by my opponent who are fond of using a cheating program just to beat me. How can I be able to reach higher score when almost all of my opponent encountered in chess are cheating. Why not play fairly? how can they tell themselves that they're good in playing chess when the most of them are good in cheating just to beat their opponent. Wasnt it a great shame on them? I felt so much dismay with those kind of players. I hope that the chess admin do something to stop this annoying players. I am looking forward that my sentiment will be heard and given action. Thank you. More power and Godbless.

What proof do you have that they are cheating? the more likely scenario is that you are not as good as you think you are, I suggest you spend less time complaining about cheating and more time working on your game.

You are an average player. Your opponents are average players who get similar results to you. Hence your claim is ridiculous, especially since it's about blitz chess. Bear in mind that your opponents have exactly as much reason to believe you are cheating as you have to think they are (check your results if you don't believe me).

There are two reasons cheating is so popular.

First is that cheating is rewarded. In the form of more victories than they would receive otherwise. This is knwn as positive reinforcement.

The second teadon is that players are punished when they do not cheat. In the form of defeats. This is kbown as negative-reinforcement.

Both of these are proven the be highly effective behavioral modifiers.

You mean... there is something beyond talent and computer aid in chess?

You lying bastard! You want to disinform the OP!

I've played online for 5 years and maybe 5 times in total I've suspected someone of cheating. I can assure you the reason you are not going up over 1400 is because you are not getting stronger. It's not because everyone else is cheating.

Instead of blaming other people for holding you back, try to look honestly at what you have done to train and improve over the last year.

Cheating IS happening on chess.com ALOT MORE recently.  A lot of cheaters don't cheat every move though, you can still tell someone is cheating though when they only play at the 2200 or 1100 level and nothing in between.  Just analyze the games afterwards with computer.

Spend that time analyzing your own mistakes, not the "cheater's" moves that are rubbish once you put an engine on it.

Dont spend time worrying about cheaters, spend that time learning more chess!

Couldn't it simply be that your chess skills are poor, rather than that your opponents cheat? How about reading a chess book?

There are lots of cheaters on chess.com, and there's not much you can do about it.

Your best options are :

  • just live with it
  • play on a different server with stronger anti-cheating policies (ICC or FIDE Arena)
  • play OTB (by far the best option)

i think its only about 20% of the players that cheat on this site these days.

As someone who actually done some computer analysis of blitz games here, my estimate is that only 4-5% of the players appeared to be using computer aid. And that only occasionally.

So your chance of playing a cheat at, say 1500 level, is less than 1%.

To the OP: if engine users stop you from improving, how can any of us mortals get past 1400 in rating? The engine users would prevent any honest player get a rating higher than that.

Actually, whether you are facing a cheater or not shouldn't affect your rating at all (unless a low rated player cheats only against you). Say you play a 2000 rated cheater whose actual skill is around 1200, then you are still playing a 2000 player in terms of rating points...

SO Obvious when the same opponent has two different styles of play with 1000 rating points of skill between them.

Please tell us how you recognize the 2500+ "style of play".

Let me guess, they don't hang pieces?

im not claiming to be a good chess player. But I tried to become one. On the other hand ,playing chess is just my way of relieving my stressful days as a  a practicum teacher. I have no intention  of quarreling someone here. Thank you for all your comments. though its a bit insulting to my part but I have to understand those who did it to me. We're just human. for there's an adage and I quote; "To err is Human , to forgive Divine". :)

I forgive your insolence
