I'm pretty sure this is impossible.
32-piece stalemate

Many years ago, I once achieved checkmate without a single capture in the game. (I remember that the final move was Nf6#, attacking the King on e8 and guarding the only other vacant square, d7.) But stalemate? This is curious. Can we prove that it's impossible--or possible?

The above board is impossible. Look at the G8 Bishop. It couldn't have moved. Yet the H8 Rook has landed in front of it.

It must be possible then. Thanks for the diagram! Anyone wanna find a way to get to that position?
Actually, it's illegal, because the LSB had no way to get to that square. There probably is a way though. I'll mess around and see what I can find.

Here is one. In twelve moves.
and if its this simple to get one then it must be that quite simple to come up with a few more.
Don't ask me how you get there, but black's stalemated in this position.
Either I am mistaken, which could be the case, or black's white bishop traveled through some kind of worm hole to get to its current position. Notice how the pawns haven't yet moved....

hmmmm. Am still convinced of the worm hole theory
Does anyone know of a stalemate where no pieces have been taken?
