Nice puzzle. I "saw" in my head what needed to be done and it seemed clear cut and straight forward so are you sure it was a 1600 level puzzle?
Although I don't have an official rating, I don't think I'm even close to being at 1600.
On the other hand, sometimes "obvious" and "simple" puzzles are not so obvious or simple to me so go figure. I'll chalk getting this one up to luck.

yeah it's not too much off imo, was just joking a bit.
the solution given is more like 1400, and the mate in 3 is maybe 1800, depends on how difficult you rate the mating move Be4# (think Qd8+ we consider immediately besides the idea you provided, but the position is kinda messy and 3.Be4# therefore a bit harder to spot).
Actually your solution is pretty brilliant, i might change it to that and give you credit if you dont mind lol
