from equal to winning in one move.think to set up a tactic; white to move.

White's equal in the original position, and is winning handily at the end.

i was cautious in my statement. perhaps overcautious.

Not too shabby for a one move puzzle, well thought out with all the ways that the queen is trapped by the move, which leads to either a fork or a pin.  I like it!

 I couldn't figure it out.Frown

i think the puzzle would be better if it carried on to play QxN, then  Bg6+.

Actually, I like the pawn move better - e4. See the move list for various lines.

In the original position, white has a forced mate in 7 starting with Qg7

lol your first puzzle just got PWNT by analyse. please don't title your puzzles like that by the way, it DETRACTS viewers, thinking they're crappy puzzles =(

Avatar of Nytik

By the way, a position can't go from 'equal to winning', clearly if both sides are playing optimally then white is better in the start position.

not a bad first try though, eh? I appreciate the help( from others).

oh right no sorry i didn't mean offense, what i mean is that almost every single homemade puzzle with a higher touch of difficulty to making the puzzle has a better solution than the one you make. i might be paranoid, but i havnt yet made a perfect puzzle... (click on my content and see what i mean...)
its also annoying to think of a good title Laughing

this is a fun position.

1Nxd5+ also works as QxNd5 is forced because K moves2Qxe7 KxNd5 3Qe4 mate. So:

2Qg7+ Ke6

3Qg8+ Ke5 and bishop checks f4 or g7 and white grabs both queen and rook.

If 2....Kf5

3Qg5+ permits the above pattern.  Of course ...Kd7 is available more immediately surrendering the queen but retaining a rook. Then black's c rook would be pinned as white has Qb7+ winning the other.  Worse case, white is 8 points up
