Qxe5 is mate. All the black king's escapes are covered.

No. Be6 temporarily blocks the mate. So technically it is not a mate in one

It's pinned to the king

Krankeit

Maybe dxc8=Q#???

Meepcom

Dxc8=Q because the black queen is pinned to the king, so it cannot block

EdwardAB17

dxc8=Q is not mate because black can do Bb7

Qxe5

Ng6

Ng6 is not mate because black can do Bxg6

I should have put the solution in a highlight to see format.

I'd just like to establish, once and for all, that Qa3 is the only way to mate in 1. d8=Q is illegal because the pawn is pinned by the black bishop on c8, Nf5 is not mate because black can do Bxf5, Ng6 is not mate because black can do Bxg6, Qxe5 and Rxe5 aren't mates because in both cases black can do Be6 and dxc8=Q and dxc8=R aren't mates because in both cases black can do Bb7. Also, Bh4 is not mate because black can do Rg5, Qg5 is not mate because black can do Qxg5 (the black queen on e5 is pinned, yes, but the black queen on c1 is not pinned), Nc6 is not mate because black can do Bxc6 or Kf6 and Bd6 is not mate because black can do Kf6.
