I like it - interesting concept and a good start.  I assume your intended solution is 1.c8 (N)+ Rxc8 2.bxc8 (N)+ Rxc8 3.g8 (N)+ Qxg8 4.g8 (N)+ Rxg8 5.hxg8 (N)+ Qxg8 6.fxg8 (N)#

One problem is that lots of other moves also win for white, for example starting with 1.f8 (Q)+.

Also, the Black N on f3 and B on d1 as well as the white pawns on a2 and b2 are superfluous - they aren't adding anything and could be deleted.

Keep working on it!

Unfortunately you are wrong sir, the Knight on f3 and Bishop on D1 are not useless. If they were not there there would be other solutions for mate in 5. And yes there are different solutions but they all are five under promotions in a row. It doesn't matter if you start with the right side or left side. But you must finish the right side if you start on the right and must finish the left side if you start on the left. And it doesn't matter which rooks or Queens you kill the promoted night with.

Also you are wrong about the f8 = Q too, that would not end in mate in 5. That would be at best mate in 6.

The quickest solution is checkmate in five. And all solutions for mate in 5 are five promotions to a knight in a row. All other solutions are at least checkmatr in six.

If I were to remove the "superfluous" knight and bishop then we would be left with this...

I still love you though bro, you will forever be the first title player I ever played. 💕 Still waiting for our rematch in the Van der wiel.

I kicked it up a notch this one has 6 knight promotions. And the only way to checkmate in six is with six Knight under promotions. Anything else is at least checkmate in 7!

OK!  Even better!

The weak spot of the puzzle is that the moves can be executed in various move orders. Here is an example on how you can avoid that - provided black plays the best countermoves:

By the way, your 6 knight promotion puzzle appears to have white alternatives with some queen promotions instead of knight promotions. Plus different move orders as in the first one.

You are correct, I just whipped that together real fast. I'll take a look at your version of the 5 now (1 solution)

And I appreciate the help bro.

Unfortunately after the first knight promotion your version still has two options he can capture with both rooks. And also your 4th knight promotion can either be f or h. But overall less optoins then mine. Can you reduce it more?

Not necessary. I wrote that black should play the best countermoves. When you do that, white has only one move order to the 5-move mate. In a puzzle it is not required to have a unique solution after an inferior defense. In particular, black should keep his rook on h8 as long as possible; then white cannot play hxg8=N+ because that would place his king in selfcheck!

Changed the diagram in post #9 to puzzle mode so you can see the best black defense.
